Quick Drive Around The City

I had to get out of the house today as a way of taking a break from building Ikea furniture. I took this time to get some shots in on what was otherwise a very chilly (although normal for this time of year) day in San Francisco. I’m pretty pleased with the results. I didn’t do any heavy handed editing in Lightroom, but the photos aren’t as sharp as they have been in the past. The light was pretty low and I didn’t have a tripod so I’m sure there was some camera shake involved. Anyway, it’s all about the process and getting plenty of practice. I’m enjoying this as a way to get out of the house and not think about any of the drama that has been 2018. Here’s to 2019 bringing more photos, more use to this site, and definitely a new hobby for myself. Cheers.

I think I like this less vivid shot the most.

We always get a portrait practice shot in when we take the cameras out.

Still Learning

I’m doing myself to get more active with photography since I have a nice camera and it deserves to be used. Additionally, since I forgot to cancel my Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, I may as well put in a least a year’s worth of Lightroom and Photoshop use. So today I went out an took a walk around the neighborhood and snapped of a few pics and played around with them in Lightroom. Anyone else around here learning photography?

More to come.

Time Lapse Photography: First Attempt

This was my first attempt at making a time lapse video. I've been watching a lot of Breaking Bad lately and they do a lot of time lapse of cloud movement in between scenes. Of course, the opening sequence of House of Cards is probably the most recognizable current use of the technique. I realized about halfway between the shoot that my camera's autofocus was on which is why the first 15 sec shakes and then towards the end the camera more stable.

Noted!

I'm going to keep making videos like this as I think it's a cool technique in film. Of course, I still have to shoot my first show. I'm working on it.

Oh yeah. I shot it off my balcony in the city. I realize it would be much better if I did it in the country or desert.
